Whitebox progress - Asa

Our game is loosely based on geographical areas of Austin, the player rides past & through important Austin landmarks but the locations are not 1:1 accurate because it is a linear level. My first level design took place on 6th  street, and while I liked the design, I think it would have been a little too busy to feasibly get done & it was already a little too much like another teammate’s section of the level. I really liked elements of it though like the signs you could ride on top of and the big crane and saved those for future iterations.

The second idea I had was more based on the capitol building, which is where I took some of the ideas from the previous design and added onto them a bit. I kept the ability to ride on top of buildings and do tricks on top of them, but I added an elevator feature and an option to break through building windows and ride inside for a short period.

The third layout I was trying to focus more on the hills and dips on the ground, which I felt I had been neglecting a bit in the previous two. It’s inspired from this one section of Guadalupe close to campus that’s just pothole after pothole for a good 20 seconds that I deeply dislike driving on. It is not completely finished but if I had more time I would have added in more opportunities for tricks and worldbuilding features.

The second image is of our progress on the whitebox, where we put all of our designs together to make each mini section a part of one working level.
